Yanis Carreto is a writer and filmmaker whose projects are centered on nostalgic themes, as well as investigative and human interest stories.
As a writer, in addition to writing scripts for film projects, she writes, photographs, and films featurettes for the blog www.HopelessNostalgic.com, where she chronicles her nostalgic adventures in travel, photography, all things vintage, and the people she meets along the way. She also uses her storytelling skills to advocate and raise awareness for irreplaceable historic, architectural, cultural, and archeological sites throughout the U.S. and the many countries she has visited.
As a filmmaker, Yanis writes, produces, and directs her own film projects. She is a self-taught filmmaker that has enhanced her knowledge of filmmaking by studying with the Sundance Institute, The Edit Center in Brooklyn, NY, and the world-renowned Escuela International de Cine & TV (EICTV) in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. She has worked on a variety of projects including: Saudade (her first major documentary film set in Cuba), Shleep (a fashion video campaign for French fashion house Eva Ngierof), Memories of a 24 Hour Project (documenting the annual 24 hour photography project designed to help non-profit organizations raise funds and awareness for global issues), Big Dreams in Little Italy, Keepers of the Buttons, Casting the Final Line, and many more documentary-style film projects.
Yanis writes stories, takes photos, and makes films...all through her rose-colored lens.
